The Easton Area Joint Sewer Authority (EAJSA) Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP) was initiated as part of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirement to monitor and control non-domestic users of the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) that discharge toxic unconventional or unusually strong conventional waste. The EAJSA’s IPP was approved by the EPA and initiated in 1984. In 1997 the EAJSA contracted United Water to manage the IPP. The IPP is currently managed by City of Easton employee, Alexandria Hoffman. The goal of the program is to prevent interference with the POTW operations, pass-through of pollutants, sludge contamination and exposure of workers to chemical hazards.
General EAJSA business and administrative tasks are handled by the Executive Secretary. The Pretreatment Coordinator handles all facets of the Environmental Protection Agency mandated IPP for the EAJSA.
